Big Day, Indeed

How are 'Big days' like in the life of adults?  Well, this could be one of the most subjective questions to ask and leave alone the fact that I'm not an adult, hence not quite eligible to answer. But, I've got my guesses, like reaching a high peak in career or marriage or having children (mind you, I have got them in a pretty sophisticated order) and I've got my guest who can know better too! Because the first two cases are still fine for me to describe if I far stretch my imagination but the third?  Oh! The third one my friend is just not my cup of tea to elaborate. Hence I would rather prefer to hand over the control to-the one and only- *** Uhh cut the crap, will you? I can do the introduction part better for me. Firstly, elaborating the situation I am currently in isn't my cup of tea either. Secondly, I am a coffee person. And thirdly, unlike my mate just mentioned, she should've preferred me as the last person to be handed over the control to. Besides, ...

(Unintentionally) Murderers!

"We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we BORROW it from our children!" -David Brower One day in heaven, he entered, a woodcutter of hundred, deserving by manner, his deeds had to be sacred. For means and family, he did all that he could, no doubt half his life went by, in chopping wood... Providing rigid support to him,  entered his son along too, said his son, "I have weak lungs", of course, he was eighty-two! For means and to nourish the family tree, his son spent half his life working for a factory... Holding his hand, entered his grandson, who was only forty by age, but resembled by looks, an old, tired sage! Only after coughing thrice had he revealed, that he had contributed to a wound which could never be healed! For means and family, he agreed to supply, weapons, on which, for money he would rely... In the man's firm arms,  he held a baby too, leave alone his age, his birth was due, He saw death before the world, for, his ancestors left wit...

She was called

Birds started chirping. The world restored its colour which the night had stolen. People began waking up but the Wilsons were wide awake all night. They had put on a composed face but were tenser than ever. Reason had been Mrs Wilson's cardiac surgery which was due that day. On cosy bluish-white sheets rested Mrs Wilson. Her grey hair resting on her face, annoying her. She was too weak to shove them off her face. She sniffed mildly and checked the time. It was what she had expected, except there was something she waited for.  Tring tring-tring tring The phone rang, enlightening her face. "My daughter is always so punctual," she thought to herself with pride. Jennifer hadn't known by then what the rest of the family was going through. She would only ever talk to Mrs Wilson. The news had to reach her late.  After informing Jenny about the surgery, Mrs Willson heard Jenny's encouraging words, enough to help her get through the tide of problems. Mrs Willson then touch...

Poems have known better

Feelings? She never understood the word   She was all about facts and logic She believed emotions were absurd By never accepting her own  She swallowed hard and suppressed Even though deep down  She was way beyond depressed    Such were her ways Of getting through hard days Until one dark night She met someone, a ray of light    In her night sky with no moon He brought the sun and made it a bright noon He saw right through and knew a fix Said,"Fear not, you'll get through this" Poems of hope and joy he wrote In the process of which he made a boat Kept her on it Where in his heart it would float Those poetry hours spent  That optimistic scent Of words so joyful And everything they meant Touched her soul She recovered soon A new girl, as a whole She now saw the noon    The one who drove away the night, she forgot Once in a while, he'd be just another thought   He says he's unaffected He says everything's great ...

Venom

It is there deep within, y our heart will enjoy a dose or two in no time it'll turn into an unavoidable habit too few drops of it and you'll feel you are warmed by something whose harm you're never to be informed  you'll be too consumed by it, you'll drink it in lots irony will someday reveal, it was the venom in your thoughts! It will fuel overthinking and make you paranoid you'll feel lost somewhere, in the vast, endless void the world will feel cursed, you'll get back to sip your drink to avoid the reality and the problems in it imposed  by the venom in your thoughts with which you're still dosed! You will hold on to all evil prejudice tight it will provoke you to do so and convince you that doing so is a delight  you'll taint your clean record and replace it with bad deeds then unaware of what you're about to nurture, the venom in your thoughts that will wipe out your future! It will fill your thoughts with jealousy and desire you'll forg...

Another Perspective: How 'Coolness' becomes 'Coldness' (and how it can be avoided)

"Kindness is a gift anyone can afford to give" "You know what? Teenagers are never  understood and if they are at least heard by chance, they are misunderstood!" I started. "Well, that's because your behaviour is beyond one's understanding! Take arrogance, for instance, is that a thing worthy of considering 'cool'?" my grandmother ended. ***** Checkmate! I had nothing to say that could beat her wise remark. It hurt me then and it hurts me now too, to accept it is true. To accept the fact in the teenagers' world that arrogance for teens is cool. That back-answering and passing mean remarks are more playful  and less boring than sweet, kind words. That disrespecting parents is more trendy than getting along well with them. That roasting someone makes you look stronger than supporting someone. That ignoring someone is wiser than acknowledging them. And that, being ignorant, arrogant, and irresponsible is being a perfect mature teenager! Pa...

"I'm gonna quit writing..."

7:15 pm Knox, I'm near the tallest lamp post on the sidewalk.  Waiting...   Where are you? This place is crowded with too many cars, can't spot yours  😞 No sooner have I fired the texts than I notice gray dots linger on the left bottom of the screen. And they keep lingering...fo r one second and then the other and another - my heartbeat speed shoots up high with every passing second until I hear honking from a familiar car and it gets normal. I open the already-open door for me a little wider and make myself comfortable in the seat next to the driver's seat.  "Sorry to keep you waiting," Knox says as an acknowledgment. "No problemo! Where are we teleporting to?"  He laughs hard and answers with half words and half laughter. "it's umm...surprise!"  "Okay, I can see the route" I laugh at how naive Knox could be sometimes. "uh-oh! erm...continue reading that novel you're hiding then; to keep your eyes off the road an...

"I'm (never) gonna quit writing..."

(Sequel to "I'm gonna quit writing...") I knock twice on the door and wait for an answer, which I don't get any time soon. "Knox! Are you there?" No answer. My eagerness to see my friend whom I haven't met for a month, or probably two gets me to break into his house to check in on him.  But I can sense an element of danger. Things don't look like they're where I last saw them in his apartment. Besides, I cannot recollect when I last gave him a visit, or where and when we'd last seen each other, my wrecked skull doesn't let me... I cough his name out. His living room is bathed in the dust almost making the air opaque. "kn-oh-oh-x-uh-uh" "Yes?" "Yes?" The echo gives me relief and I turn back hopefully, only to realize that it wasn't an echo..! My headache reaches me within a fraction of a second and I can vaguely visualize a tall lamp post on a sidewalk and the blurred image fades away as instantly as...

Beyond Repair

"Think outside the sink!" I’m Ms River, My hobby is to flow I’m pure and pristine and that’s all you need to know..! But my darker side has it, the nightmares I can’t bear ones I better keep to myself  but here I overshare..! I’ve often heard my mates, who were once taken of care now end up as gutters their condition’s beyond repair..! But those are the lucky few, some others are nowhere in sight which would’ve flowed as I do if only ‘Waste Management’ was brought to light..! Times have changed now, I have changed too I’m now Mrs River talking to you, Married to Mr Impurities, I’m no longer pure, I don’t have those nightmares anymore, I’m living one for sure..!

Another Perspective : Gadgets and their (mis)use

"Life is what happens around you when you're looking down at your phone"   Technical gadgets over the past few decades have greatly influenced the drastic change in human interests and their interactions with others in an ill direction as well...  When misused/ overused, they are no "bliss" for the human race... For instance, have a glimpse into this family which has adapted itself to the (mis)use of most latest gadgets and notice in which way and for how much better has their life improved from the advent of these sick unnecessary devices. Elementry school kid: He's excessively obsessed with his gaming console. All-day long, the avatars in the game, bonus points, and scores are all he talked about. One would wonder if he was at all familiar with the "Outside" terminology! but who cares? His sister has been treating her cellphone like an organ of her body, she's always glued to it and barely exposes her eyes to anything apart from that tiny s...

The Other Dish

The Other Dish It was indeed, a memorable victory perhaps has found its way into the ‘remarkable history’ A Gold won, in the world-famous tournament is why we players are here, cherishing the ‘beloved’ treatment... Silver platter is what our food is served in and oh! the food within, is heaven’s delight which only in our dreams we’d seen and the chandeliers had such mesmerizing grace, indeed they matched the charm of that place... Briny taste of the caviar, floral scent of saffron, garlicky tinge to the white truffles were just a few which caught my gaze, all served to honor the moment’s glory and showcase... All my mates, along with me were flattered  by the delicacy only we knew who truly deserved… The world looked up to us today, we know but in our own eyes, we’d fallen way too low... Apart from the many dishes served, One another existed which only we could see It contained the fact that our match was fixed It was a dish, of our staged victory; totally beyond gross, and that’s ...

Ahead of time

"Ahead of LIFE-time?" St. Thomas' ride was ready for one marvellous educational trip which the students were to remember worth everything, forever. They had gone shopping to get themselves impressive outfits specifically for the trip. They would plan all summer for the same and would spend hours wondering what the Science Park had in store for their amusement! and, oh! don't you miss the fact that each of them had stayed up the previous night to finally welcome the longed day's sunrise. Just the name of that place also served as a strong dose of coffee for them. They were all charged up as they buckled up for what they hadn't known-  An adventure Professor Smith had done a great job of maintaining his consistency in being a boring teacher. Although disliked by many, his words were still to be followed. He commanded "I want pin-drop silence" all way long even though his voice was the only sound that echoed to be any louder than "pin-drop silen...
